Eagle River, Alaska is a quaint town located just off the Glenn Highway.  There are about 32,000 people living in the Eagle River area.  Eagle River is situated in close proximity to Anchorage, which offers much in the way of outdoor activities, such as skiing, golf, swimming and camping.  In addition, entertainment opportunities abound with the George Sullivan Arena, Alaska Performing Arts Center, Egan Convention Center, and many other facilities.  All these large city amenities and services can be had while still living in a small town atmosphere in Eagle River!

Knik Little League has over 800 kids in this area ages 5-18 that play softball and baseball. Mustang Hockey Association offers programs for kids ages 5-18, from the learn to skate programs all the way to the Midgets.   Eagle River High School offers swimming lessons, family swimming etc... Harry McDonald Recreation Center features ice skating lessons and is available for various hockey games.

The area's growth rate has been very high for many years and is expected to reach an even higher rate.  Suitable land for building continues to be widely available in this area while such land in the Anchorage Bowl is becoming more scarce.  

Business development is stable, with several large businesses (Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Arby's) and a variety of smaller businesses along the Old Glenn Highway.  This area is better known as "Main Street".  Many goods and services which formerly were only available in Anchorage are now accessible to residents of Eagle River.  In addition, several major banks and credit unions have branches in town.   

The appearance of downtown Eagle River has been greatly enhanced by the Eagle River Urban Project, which widened the Main Street area to five lanes and added paved sidewalks and many other features which promote beauty and safety.
