| Glen Ellyn, Illinois like many communities was built by
pioneers who dared to leave settled communities in the East and come West.
Glen Ellyn had men and women of vision who took risks which became economic,
political and social traditions. It had its heroes... and villains. Glen
Ellyn spawned creative talents who made contributions to the world at large.
Glen Ellyn sent its brave to wars, some of whom gave their lives for that
cause. Glen Ellyn's people came together in times of hardship to help each
other survive. Businesses grew and prospered.
Glen Ellyn is unique. From the three brothers who took up claims in
1833 along the DuPage River on the site of present-day Glen Ellyn-Lombard to
the political, educational, social and economic leaders of today, Glen Ellyn
is a village worth remembering and a community to call home. |
