Merrimack New Hampshire consists of 4 villages; Merrimack, Reeds Ferry, Thorntons Ferry, and South Merrimack. The first known settler came to Merrymac (Indian for sturgeon) in 1656. Located on 2 rivers, Merrimack has always had mills, but changed rapidly after Anheuser-Busch located its New England brewery here in 1968. Other blue chip companies followed. Merrimack has many shopping centers and fine restaurants. If something is not available in Merrimack, it can be found in Nashua or Manchester both within a 15 mile radius. The Merrimack Youth Association sponsors athletic and recreational events. Several playgrounds and athletic fields, four public tennis courts, Kids Kove Playground, a hockey rink, two lakes and a summer day camp program are all at Camp Sargent. Merrimack offers programs for Senior Citizens through the Parks and Recreation Department. Veterans Memorial Park, Wasserman Park on Naticook Lake and 100 acres of woodland are available for walking and enjoying nature. |
