| Oak Harbor, Washington is the largest community on
Whidbey Island. The area offers the longest salt-water surrounded island in
the continental United States. Whidbey Island marks the northern edge of
Puget Sound. The island has five state parks and recreation areas, two of
which include historic forts and tourists centers.
The island is connected to the mainland by the Highway 20 bridge at Deception Pass and by Washington State Ferries, with a route connecting Clinton at the south end of the island with Mukilteo on the mainland. The other major centers on the island are Langley, Freeland, Greenbank, Coupeville, and Oak Harbor. |
